Smooch Repovich Reynolds



Smooch’s journey began at the University of Southern California where she worked to receive her Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism.  Upon graduation, she began her professional journey working as a Press Deputy for former LA City Councilwoman, Pat Russell, and eventually extended her experience into Public Relations and the Telecommunications industry in her second position as the PR and Lobbying Director for United Cable Television in Southern California.  Recognizing her love for Communications and Public Relations, she then progressed her career to the agency arena earning her tenure at Hill and Knowlton, Inc., a leading global PR and Public Affairs firm, where she led the firm on designing and launching both the executive search and Human Resources functions as pilot programs for this world-renowned Communications and Investor Relations consultancy.


In 1987, Smooch founded and grew a North American, client centric executive search firm for 23 years focusing in the Investor Relations, Communications (internal and external), Marketing, and Finance functional areas known as, The Repovich Reynolds Group (TRRG, Inc.).  Having built a global talent network, her firm’s work and expertise spanned across all industry sectors working with organizations of all sizes.


Ultimately, one of her own clients sought her leadership expertise and attracted her away from the search profession to assist with a C-suite functional challenge.  Smooch stepped in as the Senior VP of Communications for The Irvine Company, a multi-billion dollar home building company where she reengineered and redefined the organization’s Communications function.  After leaving Irvine, she became a senior management team member leading the Investor Relations and Communications practice groups at two recognized search firms.

Today, Smooch serves as the Managing Director of Global Investor Relations and Communications Practice Group Leader of ZRG Partners. In this capacity she advises and counsels clients across industry groups and with entities contemplating an IPO through the ranks of some of the world’s largest companies in the Fortune 500 ranks.  ZRG has been recognized as one of the fastest growing, most innovative search firms to embrace data analytics to drive leadership and talent success. Its culture embodies Smooch’s executive search philosophy -- a consultative approach to search, personalized and dedicated focus to solving client talent and leadership challenges, and deep knowledge of and relationships with talent.


To Smooch, her work is more than just a career; headhunting is in her DNA.  She does not define her career by her own success, but rather by the success of her clients and the candidates who she has placed.  “I have spent my life focused on doing the right things which, is vastly different from those who do things right. Ironically, a philosophy that Peter Drucker also embraces."


While Smooch is passionate about her career and her clients’ success, she’s equally invested in the success of her three Millennial young adult children.  When not serving her clients or partnering with colleagues, Smooch catches up with the millennial generation taking in as much as she can. She believes that they’re already defining the future of business through not only technological advancements and quickly emerging digital and social trends, but also through their unique intellectual freedom to not be impeded by arbitrary boundaries.  Smooch enjoys ballroom dancing in her spare time and jokes that it helps her feel relaxed because, “it’s the only time in life when I have the opportunity to follow.”
